Advanced Watercolours for Adults and Seniors
The Nanaimo Art Gallery presents Advanced Watercolour for Adults and Seniors, a four week workshop with artist Arless McNeill for those who have taken Intro to Watercolours and/or have some experience with Watercolours. How to paint what you see and how to make changes. Emphasis will be on 'what if' to alter elements that can be used to create landscapes/wildlife paintings. Discussions include composition, colour, and seasonal pallets. 4 week workshop, October 14, 21, 28, November 4 from 1:30-3:30pm.
Cost is $90.00 per gst, seniors, $85 plus gst, members $80 plus gst.
Bring your own supplies aside from paper which is supplied by the gallery.
“The Absolute Beginner Acrylic Painting Workshop”
This one-day workshop, with artist Linda Findlay on Saturday, November 7th from 10:00am – 4:00 pm (half hour lunch break) is aimed at those who have always wanted to paint but feel intimidated.
Starting at the very beginning, students will learn the basics about acrylic paint including how to mix basic colours, how to use brushes and which brushes are best for each technique, the pros and cons of various painting surfaces, where and how to use gesso, and a brief introduction to mediums and gels. The aim of this workshop is to learn some basic skills about working with paint and to provide encouragement by demystifying the medium and its tools.
The workshop will take the format of discussion, question and answer, instructor demonstrations and student practice through making samples of various painting techniques. Workshop supplies are included in the price of $55.
The Absolute Beginner Drawing Workshop
This one-day workshop, with artist Linda Findlay on Saturday, October 24th from 10:00am – 4:00 pm (half hour lunch break) is aimed at those who have always wanted to draw but can’t figure out how to start. Learn about different drawing mediums and techniques through a series of fun drawing exercises that will help build your confidence. Learn about charcoal, conte, graphite and the techniques best suited to each medium. How to choose drawing paper will also be discussed. Instruction will be given on gesture drawing, line drawing and the basics of developing value shading techniques.
The workshop will take the format of discussion, question and answer, instructor demonstrations and student practice through making sample drawings. Workshop supplies are included in the price of $50.
