John G. Boehme’s, Farheen Haq’s, Judith Price’s and Jeroen Witvliet’s Video Art
projects use and engage their private self to become an engaged public body.
These artists structure their own personal narratives as sites of investigation
and resistance to mass media’s influences. They conceptualize and investigate
sites of codes and language to present complex diverse narratives that, in a
gallery space, feed into and out of each other’s projects and are ripe with a
multi-narrative that resists easy interpretation. This is not TV, this is not a
film, this is not theater, this is not a commercial, and I am not a passive
viewer. I am an active viewer, and I exist to also become an engaged body in a
public space alongside these projected personal narratives.
